I have a bh90 skimmer purchased about 3 months ago local to me, I have 30v from water in display tank to ground when the skimmer is running, .56v when it isnt running...I was reading about stray voltage keeping corals from opening completely and a few weeks ago with no chemistry change a few colonies of zoas started closing. So this lead me to checking..Am I correct to think it shouldnt be there? Can the pump be replaced? I called the local fish store and they said since it was past 1 month im out of warranty..I thought id email you for my options..It has the OTP pump on it.
thanks, thomas

Tommy,

Have you removed the pump from the skimmer, placed it on a bucket of water and ran it and then tested for voltage? Did they remove the impeller and made sure the magnet impeller is not seized to the shaft. The only way to really test for stray voltage is to isolate the pump (bucket of water) and test it there.

Here is a good article on how to check from stray voltage and how to figure out what part is causing the issue...

Tommy,

Did you also make sure that the magnet impeller is not seized to the shaft? I am asking because that has been known to cause the issue at which point the impeller has gone bad but not the whole pump.

Let me know,

Tommy,

Please submit a new ticket with all the pump's information and your shipping address so we can send out a new pump.

Don't do it here because this is a public forum.
