The most common reason is syphon as people sometimes set the fresh water tank higher than the output in the sump so once the water starts flowing, it won't stop until the fresh water reservoir is emptied out. Please ensure that the fresh water reservoir is lower than the hose output in the sump.

I had the same problem last week so I put in a siphon break just below the inside top of fresh water tank plus reran the water line up high. I came home after 2 days of it running fine and it had emptied all 10 gallons into my sump again.. What do I do?

I suggest you start a ticket and one of the reps here will be happy to help you trouble shoot the issue.

I found that the pump needs to be lower than the top of my sump. As a test to your problem take a bucket and set it next to the container you want to fill. Then make sure the fill line is above and out of the water when it is filled to the desired level. this is what worked for me I have not had any trouble since I set it up this way other than the occasional reset.

as a side note I also had my sensor facing the light in my refugium this also cause unwanted filling on the sump. So make sure you point it at a dark area.
