Greetings.
I am trying to run this pump on a 12v Inverter to 115VAC / 60Hz and it will not function?

This is a supply pump for my 375 gal tank. I was intending to set this pump up just like the return pump in my 125 tank.
I have a Computer back up power supply

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FBK3QK/ref=pe_385040_30332190_TE_M3T1_ST1_dp_1

That I plug the pump into it and then the power supply into normal power. all works fine until the house power is removed and the pump tries to run on the power supply. the pump shutters and shakes, but does not pump.

I tried the pump in another inverter

http://www.harborfreight.com/1500-watt-continuous-3000-watt-peak-power-inverter-93280.html

Same results???

Help! Whats going on??

thanks
Drew

Even though the backup batteries can handle the wattage, the necessary amps needed to run the pump may not be there.

The back up power supply is rated @ 900w
The pump draws 88w ?

When I did the power conversions and usage, this battery back up was suppose to run the pump for atleast 5 hrs.

It is not the wattage but the amperage.

I asked around and there were other people that tried to do the same thing you are doing without any success. We forwarded the issue to the manufacturer but they did not get back to us. I can try to ask them again and will let you know when and if they reply.
