skimmer flow rate

I have a DNW-150-6530B skimmer and have been using some of my passive tank overflow to feed the skimmer. Some reading has inferred that I may not be getting enough flow through my skimmer. I will be re-designing my pump manifold and will be able to supply much more flow. What is the ideal flow rate for this skimmer?

The recommended flow rate is 1.5-2 times the system volume but NOT EXCEEDING 520 gph.

You can find this information on the product page under the "More Details" tab...

Thanks, that helps. Just to confirm the model, mine is a DNW-150-6530B, purchased 5 years ago. It has no red parts, like in the pictures on the above site, they are all gray and there is no adjustment 'knob', I have to turn the gray adjustment pipe. Still the same flow rate? It is external. Is mine considered 'recirculating'?
