Hi. I purchased a Smart ATO from Optimum Aquarium in Kennesaw, Georgia a couple of weeks ago and have not been able to get it to work properly. It will not stop pumping and will over fill my tank. I watched the install video as well as the troubleshooting video and it doesn't seem to be a siphoning issue. The pump continues to run until it over fills and trips the over fill alarm. Sometimes it works for a day or two, but will then over fill. My tank is a JBJ rimless 30 gallon. It is mounted on the rear of the tank where I have removed the vinyl backing from the glass of the sump area. I have thoroughly cleaned both sides of the glass multiple times.

I originally removed a 3" x 3" square section of the vinyl backing on my JBJ 30 to place the unit. It appears that users need to remove a larger section of the vinyl in order for the unit to function properly. I'm not sure why, but when I removed the rest of the vinyl up to the top of the tank the unit works fine. I've had it working for about a week now and all is well. Thanks for your help!
