I am constantly always having to reset (unplug) my ATO every couple days. It will do the kind of slow triple beep with the blue led.. I follow the directions for setting it up above the water level and then slide it back down to where I want my level in the sump to be and it stops filling after a few seconds. It works fine but then in 2-3 days I have to start over because of the stupid beeping!. I also thought the firmware was changed so that the alarm was not audible and just flashed? That would at least make it somewhat tolerable.

Is the unit installed on the sump or the tank itself? Blue light usually means that the controller head and magnet are misaligned or that there are some bubbles or algae obstructing the light from entering the wet side causing the controller to error out.

It's on the sump since the water level of the tank stays constant with evaporation. Does the sump being in semi- darkness under the stand with doors closed matter? I would think not since it does fill and keep the level constant..
Algae doesn't grow on the sump walls due to the lack of light, Don't see bubbles either.

Every week when I do a water change, I need to unplug the ato since the water level drops in the sump until I replace the new water and I don't want the salinity to drop.

I am having the exact same problem with my ATO. It works for about 12-24 hours and I am constantly having to reset it.

How old is the Smart ATO? Is it brand new and only a couple of days old?

It was purchased and installed in June 2015. It hasn't worked correctly since purchasing. I contacted the seller on eBay and they asked that I submit a ticket to Coralvue.

Is the flashing slowly or is it flickering fast?

Please remove the wet side magnet and make sure that there is no debris stuck to the prism. The error you describe usually happens when the prism is dirty and needs to be cleaned.

I cleaned the prism and it did it again today.
I am not sure if the light is fast or slow. I can just say it's steady.

Well, I guess I'm out of luck. I bought it used, but the previous owner only used it about 4 months. He took his tank down.

Check to make sure the wetside prism is clean and fully inserted into the magnet.

I have done that.
If this prism is going to get that dirty every couple of days, then this ATO is useless to me.
I have an AIO tank and I have it set up in the back.
If this is going to do this every couple of days, I will not be able to depend on it when I go on vacation.

If you use a filter sock, there is no reason why there should be that much debris in your sump. At least not enough to clog up the eye with a few days.
