Hello all.

I bought 5 R420r 160w 8k units in 2018 but they were not opened until last week. What happened was they were bought to be used in a large planted tank in my restaurant. Unfortunately we had construction problems and had to postpone the project. Then covid hit my business and we went bankrupt and only recently we were able to resume the project and installed the lights. They were all kept unopened in a dry place.

Fast forward 5 years and last week right after we installed the units it was fine por maybe an hour. Then 4 out of the 5 stopped working. Initially I thought it would be a cable issue but changing the cables did not work.

Then I realized the internal battery was dead and replaced it what helped with ajusting the time.

However the units keep shutting down. I guessed it could be a temperature issue and used a fan to blow air and it helped a bit but after a couple hours it shuts down again.

Could it be the temperature sensor? Of the 5 units only 1 is working.

The local distributor is not of much help. They say since they were bought 5 years ago the warranty is alteady expired even though there are no signa of use. I currently live in Brazil.
