I installed a new 1000-HOB on a 45 gallon tank yesterday. tt seemed to work fine for about 12 hours, then simply turned itself off. No problem with the power supply. Any thoughts why this happened, and how I can get it to power on again? Thank you in advance.

Have you taken the pump apart to see if something got pulled into the pump and is jamming the impeller? Pull the impeller out and make sure that the impeller's shaft is in one piece and not broken. Also, 45 gallon tank is rather small for that skimmer. We cannot guarantee that the skimmer will work properly as the skimmer is rated for tanks 60 gallons and up.
