retired skimmers

Hi there, I am upgrading my skimmer for a 400 gallon tank. Total water volumn of about 620 gallons. I was interested in the SRO XP5000E or the POV DC3. I see that they are retired. What exactly does that mean? What will be replacing them? I realize the POV DC3 is internal but I could make it work. Would prefer an external skimmer with a DC pump.

Those skimmers are being retired because new versions of the DC pump will be coming out in the next couple of months. While the skimmers are now retired, they are still fully supported and we will still make parts for them for the long future.
