SRO2000 loud pump

Hi

I have a new SRO 2000 which is the loudest item in my sump right now. It’s a very loud hum/buzz which I assume is the AC pump. It’s sitting on a ST2 skimmer stand to get right water depth in my Red Sea 525XL. The retailer I bought from is being resistant to an exchange even tho this is new tank so the skimmer is just bubbling in clean water. Would upgrading this to a DC varios pump eliminate the sound? Could this be a defective AC pump ? I have been reading some great reviews about this skimmer and people say it’s very quiet. Thank you

Hi Eric,

Do you have the skimmer running in fresh water or saltwater?

Can you take the front cover off of the pump and pull the impeller out? Check to see if the impeller is damaged, that may be what is causing the loud noise.

Also, to answer your question; the VarioS pumps are pretty much silent, they are awesome pumps and may be quieter than the one you have. However it may be an impeller issue you are having as the bubble blasters are normally not very loud at all.

On the body of my skimmer it says RO-PS-2000 INT just confirming this is the super reef 2000/sro2000. Thanks.

Could you clarify the adaptor measurement/spec so I can make sure it fits the skimmer body.

Thanks

The link I sent you for the VarioS pump; when adding to your cart there is a drop down box to select an adapter. Please select the SRO 2000INT and we will add the proper parts you need to make the pump fit your skimmer
