I have had the skimmer running for about two days and was hoping that the noise would go away, i have no water leaks and the skimmer is skimming the tank. but there is a lot of noise that you can hear coming where the elbow before the pump is. the noise goes away if you plug the air line and then comes back even after leaving it plugged for a few minutes as soon as you release the plug(my finger). i have tried different water levels and different levels of air intake, but every time i release the airline and add the silencer, it goes back to making the noise. any help would be awesome

The skimmer noise will go down as the skimmer breaks in. Please allow the skimmer 3 weeks to properly break in. Brand new skimmers will be noisier than usual and that is because they are new.

After posting this I took the skimmer apart and put Teflon tape on all the threads and it dramatically reduced the sound. I think I was getting a lot of air past some of those connections. It's still making a little noise but i think the noise that is left is more the new skimmer noise you rendered to. Thank you
