Month old BB HY-2000 pump issues....

I've had my new Bubble Blaster pump in operation for just about a month. It had finally broke in and was producing some tremendous bubbles.....until today. We had a short power outage, according to my Apex notification text/email, and the skimmer turned on as it should have. Mind you, I also shut it down for tank maintenance and certain feedings. I emptied the skimmer cup, and then out of nowhere, the skimmer starts making a horrible racket from under the tank. I watched as the skimmer cut on and off (not the power, but more like the sound of an old printer printing lines of text on a wide piece of paper). When it does cut off and on, I notice that the bubbles reduce and come back along with the sound...all the while the pump continues to run (not a complete power down).

It has it's moments where it will run continuously for several minutes, then go into one of these "fits". While it is running continuously, I noticed that the amount of bubbles produced is Significantly reduced! Before the problem the skimmer body was a complete white-out of foam, now...hardly an inch of good foam is at the surface. This is really a pain and I'm considering going back to the original NWB150 pump, and try to find something to hold down with this $250 paperweight.

Help, Please?

Sorry for the inconvenience. Did you take the pump apart and inspected the impeller? Is the pinwheel securely attached to the shaft or is it loose or off the shaft?

I did remove the volute housing and inspect. The pinwheel was securely attached and the impeller was free of debris and abnormal wear. I took it apart twice, both of which produced the same results after resupplying power. I removed the pump and replaced it with the original one. I will try running the Bubble Blaster in a bucket of water to see if the issue still exists. I can send a video, or proceed in a different direction, pending your guidance.

Thank you,

Randy

Randy,

Please go ahead and give the bucket test a try. If that does not work, then please use the "Submit a Ticket" and be sure to include the model, serial and proof of purchase.

Carlos,

I will. I purchased the pump through the Coralvue website. Would I need to submit a hard copy receipt for that, or will they be able to look up my purchase in my account?

Thank you,
Randy

No need for the receipt then. Just provide us with the order number (can be found on the confirmation email) plus the model and serial numbers.

I would like to open a ticket. I did the bucket test as was talked about and it continued to have the same original symptoms. I recently rearranged my sump and tried to use the BB Pump to no avail. This pump does not work and I would like a refund.
