SRO 6000 External Question

I recently purchased a SRO 6000 External skimmer. When I turn off the return pump (feed pump) it causes the skimmer to completely drain into the sump. In the event of a feed pump failure, it would cause the skimmer pump to run dry.

The feed into the skimmer is via a T in the return line. What would be best way to resolve this issue? It seems like the easiest fix would be to install a check valve before the skimmer intake.

I have attached a picture of the skimmer setup to try to explain better.

Thanks
Randy

Yes, you will need to install a check valve to prevent the water from returning to the sump via the feeding pump line.
