My xf 150 puts out 2 angles of flow about 45 degrees apart (pulse mode). I have to position it with 1 flow almost shooting straight out of the water so as to not blast the corals and sand. Is this normal to have 2 angles of flow originating from each side of the gyre? If not, any suggestions on why it is doing this and how to fix it.

You can rotate your pump flow cages to change the direction of the flow.
