Morning,
I have the retired Diablo XS160 for just over 2 years and the pump just stopped working. I can't even tell what is wrong with it as it has been cleaned and the pin impeller does move freely (1/4 turns). At this point I am looking to find out if there are replacement options or is the recommendation stick with the Sicce PSK-600?

If you do have any recommendations please let me know what additional parts are necessary for the retrofit.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

Greg,

Thank you for contacting us. You could go with the same pump or what I would recommend is going with the HY-2000 pump. It is a more powerful pump and it comes with a 3-year warranty. The only drawback is that with the HY2000 pump, you need an adapter (which we also sell) and the pump would sit next to the skimmer and not under.

The pump is backordered right now but we will be getting a shipment later this week. I can let you know when it becomes available so you can purchase it.

Let me know,

Hi Carlos,
Thanks for your quick reply I very much appreciated it.

I took a look at the BB pump and while it looks impressive so is its price. In your opinion/experience do you think the difference in performance and warranty justify it being twice the price (included the add'l cost of an adapter). I am on the fence on this since I'd like to be a more budget conscious but also would appreciate better performance.

I couldn't find anything that showed the adapter. Would you have a link or picture of it?

Thanks again,
Greg

We do not have any pictures of the adapters but we do sell them and when you purchase the pump, you can select the adapter that you need.

Between the Bubble Blaster and the Sicce, hands down the Bubble Blaster is a much better pump. It comes with a 3-year warranty from the manufacturer. They would not do such a long warranty period if they did not believe in their pumps. Sicce only comes with a 1-year warranty from the manufacturer.

We use the new RODC and Bubble Blaster pumps in all our high end skimmers. The Bubble Blaster pump has been around for many years and it is know for being a good and lasting workhorse as long as you maintain it well.

Another option is to use the Aquatrance pump. This would be much more economical than purchasing a Bubble Blaster pump. Aquatrance pumps are very good and we have been using them for a while without any issues. It is actually the pump we currently use for all skimmers in our new Classic Skimmer Line.

The adapter would only be an extra $10.00. Unlike the Bubble Blaster, even with the adapter, the pump would be under the skimmer and not next to it.

Here is a link to the skimmer pump which you can purchase directly from our website. Just make sure you specify the XS160 for your adapter choice.
