i really like this skimmer but there one think i'm not sure if it should be this way or not.the skimmer cup just sit on the body it is so easy to take of my 2 year old niece can take of the skimmer cup off without moving the skimmer body is the skimmer cup just hold on by gravity or the weight of the skimmer cup?

The collection cup is fitted into the skimmer and sealed by a plastic o-ring. You cannot really remove the collection cup just by picking it up. You need to place one hand on the skimmer body and remove the collection cup with the other hand. It requires a little bit of force to do so.

It seals it from leaking water but it does not seal it as in holding it in place permanently. The o-ring is meant to prevent water from leaking at that joint and not from holding the collection up down.

your right what i was trying to say is if you working in the sump it will not fall off just by bumping in to the skimmer why i'm cleaning the inside the sump.i just looked and The o-ring is letting water past the o-ring.right now the collection cup come off just as easy as the lid to the collection cup.
