Gyre 250 Settings

Hi Carlos... Hope everything is ok with you and your family.

I need your advise. I have been using 2 XF-250 on my 125 reef with success for quite a time. I have been using them in opposite side with one on Random and the other at Pulse at 100%. The delay settings are at 2%. The growth on the SPS has become huge and i am getting little patches of algae on the side corners so i assume the flow is not getting there as it should be.

Is there other settings you can recommend me to use so the flow can reach there on the sides? Or do you have any other advise as i think going higher on another Gyre will not resolve the problem?

Here is a pic of my tank for reference.

Thanks in advance...

Wow, nice looking tank. Do you have a picture of the tank with lights so we can see where the pumps are? It sounds to me like you actually need more pumps. Maybe one or two Octo Pulse on the sides directed at certain spots to help with the flow. I personally have a 210-Gallon tank and I have two Gyre 350s and two OctoPulse 4 pumps.

You could probably benefit from a couple of smaller gyres in the back pushing forward. That might help. It does look to me that due to the great growth you are getting, the two pumps are just not enough anymore. I guess that is a good problem to have but a problem none the less.

Thanks Carlos... Do you think going bigger like you 350's will have benefit on each side or ii is better with the little gyres in the back.

Once again thanks...

The larger gyre might be too much considering the shorter distance but if you do not have any sand, then it will probably be ok.

Yes i have sand so i can't go that route then. I will check when i get home to see how it will affect the look of the tank.

Thanks once again

Ok, then you might need like a 2K or even go with Octo Pulse 2 or 4 and reduce the speed. Having the extra two pumps will definitely make it easier to deal with the detritus. The OctoPulse allows you to point in a direction so they might give you more versatility for this particular application.
