Will the Maxspect 420r 120w 8000k do a great job using just one for a tank this size and with the 24" depth?
If not, can you recommend another model?
Also.... The tank has a 2 or 3 inch support strip in the top center of the tank, connecting the front to the rear which could block out a light which would be in the center.

Yes, for a freshwater planted aquarium the 120W 8000K is perfect for a 30 x 18 x 24.
