I have a 90 gallon with corner overflow on left. I installed the gyre horizontal on the right side of the tank. It appears the water is being sucked in the top and shot diagonally towards the bottom left corner opposed to going around the tank as the illustration shows. Also the instructions note running in reversed direction as an option is that done by rotating the until 180deg?

your pump is sending the flow in the right direction and pulling water from the reverse side. The pattern is working, But you have to remember that your tank is a box with corners and you probaly have rockwork which all will deflect your flow! i would mess whith it a bit till your corals all have a nice flow and leave it!
