I have a 65 gallon reef tank that I am setting up so I purchased a octo classic 150 not knowing how large of a footprint it occupies. It won't fit in my wet dry filter system so I am considering building a sumo but am afraid it is still too large. I hear that it can be Plummed out as an external skimmer is this true and any suggestions or is there a smaller skimmer you recommend that can serve a 65 gallon tank better?

Unfortunately it cannot be plumbed as external without heavy modification and alterations to the skimmer body. It is something that we do not recommend nor support.

We would recommend the CLSC-110INT or CLSC-110EXT skimmers for your system...
