It is suggested here that the Aurora T5 bulbs cannot be dimmed for fixtures in the US?

At the Giesemann website: http://www.giesemann.de/726,2,,.html
It says:
"Each pair of T-5 lamps are independently controllable via built in electronic HF ballasts with dimming capacity from 1-100% and are integrated into the Bluetooth control system."

So, are the US fixtures dimmable like the German (Euro) version?

Whoever VJV is he's misinformed. I have customers dimming the 80W T5s on their Giesemann Aurora, CoralVue also did a video at 2015 Global Pet Expo showing the dimming of an Aurora with 80W lamps.

Thanks for the video!

Q1. Am I correct in that the Giesemann Aurora fixtures use a 220v T5 ballast in both the Europe and US versions?
Q2. AND that the US version is supplied with a setup 110vac>220vac transformer to allow for use in the US?
Q3. That is currently the case AND has been so since the introduction of the Aurora in the US?

Thanks for your time,
Bob

Answers:

A1: Only for the Auroras with 80W T5 lamps. All lower wattage T5 ballasts are 120V input.

A2: Yes, but only for Auroras with 80W T5 Lamps.

A3: For 5ft Auroras yes, some 6ft Auroras have been 120V without transformers. All 4ft and smaller Auroras have always been 120V.

Answering more questions on the Forum mentioned above.

Q. The 120v are all dimmable? Even the early 6 ft?

Correct, all 120V models are all dimmable, including the 6ft model.

The issue with the 5ft Aurora is that the dimmable 80W T5 ballasts in 120V are single lamp. This causes a problem with space as the 80W ballasts are long and won't fit internally. Therefore, 220V T5 (two lamp) ballasts must be used.

RE: Aurora 72"
Looking at the video of the Aurora 72", it appears that the LED clusters are spread out at about 60" total which is the length of the T5s.
see attached pic

Since the fixture is 72" long, is the extra 6" on each end just open with no lighting?

Is there a pic of this fixture showing the actual layout?

My tank is 8ft long, with a 6" overflow width at one end (peninsula). This leaves about 90" to cover.
I was hoping the LED clusters in the 72" would be at the far ends of the fixture...guess not.

I don't have any photos of the 72" Giesemann Aurora, I will need to request them from the factory.

I would be interested in seeing the 72" vs. 60" light layout.
Not sure just how the 72" covers more lengthwise.

If you can request this....Thanks!
