Is there a best way to clean your Gyre pumps? I have (2) 230 Gyres in my tank and every month or so, the pumps will start to make a faint whining sound and that’s my signal to give them a cleaning.
I have tried what I call minimal cleaning from just hosing them down, to taking the pumps apart like the Coral Vue videos suggest with various levels of success. What I’m finding is that minor cleaning of the pumps doesn’t stop the whining and that the only thing that really works is to take the entire pump apart like the advanced troubleshooting video suggests, clean each part, switch out the bushings and re-assemble.
This seems like a lot for a quick maintenance clean….
Is there any suggested less drastic way to clean gyre pumps? Or should I just continue with the more major advanced assembly for each cleaning?

In order to properly clean the pump, you really need to take it apart.
