Just set up Elite 200 last night in my 200 g reef and in-wall 60 g FOWLR cube--both lightly stocked--that's plumbed together in a 75 gal sump. Placed on 7" stand (overturned tupperware) and have water level at ~ 8 inches. Made bubbles at bottom third of chamber right away. Gate "max." When I woke up, expected to see bubble column higher and some sludge in collection chamber. However, bubble level still ~ same level as last night. Am I just not being patient enough? Can you give me a time frame before I should suspect I did something wrong in set-up?

Also, should I remove the arrow "stickies" on the Elite surfaces?

NOT a HUGE deal, but FYI: Packing was secure, but collection chamber was clean/ready to use b/c it was in a plastic bag. The tubing, main chamber etc that had direct contact with the styrofoam had countless balls on them d/t static. Pain to clean off--when wiping outside of main chamber some got inside and had to take unit apart to clean. If pieces had plastic bag on them like the collection cup, would have prevented the unfortunate first impression.

Yes, the skimmer will not breakin in 24 hrs. The skimmers usually take 3 weeks to properly break in. During the breakin period, your skimmer will be inconsistent. It will only collect part of the time. Once the skimmer has broken in, it becomes much more stable and can be tuned to your satisfaction.

Sorry about the styrofoam on the main body. An easier way to remove them is to use a portable vacuum cleaner. It is faster and more efficient than trying to wipe them off.

Thanks...should I see some sludge in the next couple of days/bubbles rising up the chamber? Should I run my old G-2 and G-1 ACM skimmer while RO gets up to speed?

Remove arrows?

No need to remove them. The skimmer will work fine with them on.

Please allow the skimmer to properly break in. Right now, the skimmer will be a little erratic and not consistent.

Having better (or any for that matter) instructions on setup and and configuration would really be helpful. John stated he has the skimmer set to Max. I have found the settings to be the opposite of what I ha e expected. Meaning Min raises the foam level and max lowers it. I currently run my Elite 200 sss at about 2 on the scale. Skimmer sits in 8” of water.

The gate valve is placed on the skimmer's output. So you are either closing or opening the output of the skimmer. Min means minimum flow out which will raise the level of the skimmer inside. Max means maximum flow out which will lower the water level in the skimmer.

Right, so for John, the reason his skimmer is not producing, is he has it set to Max and thus allowing the maximum flow out of the skimmer, instead of running closer to 2 or 3 to hold up the flow and contact time to allow for skimate production.

Once again instructions for setup and operation here would be the best solution. Instead all that is provided is a exploded diagram and next to no assembly instructions. How can that be for a near $1,000.00 skimmer?
