Question, did you attach the top end of the air hose to the small wedge valve (red pipe) cap? If so, please detach it and just move it to the side when installing the cap.

Also, make sure that the air hose is threaded all the way up to the top of the pipe. Not just half way but all the way up WITHOUT kinking the airline.

Let us know,

I stuck the two pronges attached to the cap that goes on top of the red cylinder into the air tube. Was that not correct? Youre saying im not suppose to put the cap on the red cylinder?

Ok i unattached the airhose from the pipe cap pronges. I shall give it some time and see if that fixes it.

Make sure that the airline is not kinked outside or inside the red pipe. Otherwise, it will obstruct the air intake and the skimmer wont work.

Okay the airline is absolutely not kinked in any way. I'm still not getting any phone build up or skim mate. Any more suggestions on what I might have wrong? I put it together just as the instructions said. Been running for 2 weeks and I'm still not working

The skimmer needs to break in for a minimum of 3 weeks before it really starts working. Do you have any fish in that tank? How old is the tank? What size tank do you have (in gallons) not including the sump?

You can tell there is surface tension in the water. Likely due to all the oils from new equipment (sump, skimmer and plumbing). The use of fresh activated carbon and time will get the skimmer in operation. Also make sure that the water salinity is 1.024-1.026 for greater air intake. Skimmers especially on small systems generally take 3-4 weeks to break in.

Well its been another 4 weeks and still no skimmate other than a small amount that gets stuck to the sides of the area where the bubbles are. I took the skimmer apart washed it with vinegar 4 weeks ago then reassembled it and that didnt help either. Is there something wrong with it maybe. I have a 65 gallon with a lg flame angel, med pearlscale butterfly, firefish, 2 medium black clowns, a small foxface, amd tiny nwon goby. So i have a large bio load so i need a good skimmer to work but something has to just not b right with this one.its been 2 mnths of it running. It sitting in 7.5 inches of water
