I'm curious if the height of the discharge pipe is critical. Or can I use a longer length of pipe in order to raise the height of the discharge pipe in order to facilitate the return of the water to the sump. The way my equipment room is set up I need additional height to clear some other plumbing.

Thanks

If you raise the height of the discharge, you will also be raising the water level inside the skimmer which is not recommended as it compromises the skimmer's efficiency.

I kind of figured that but wasn't sure because of the valve on there. I thought that perhaps the valve could be used to adjust the water level inside as well? It looks like I'l have to raise the entire unit to clear my plumbing obstacles?

Nope. The valve can be used to raise the water level inside the skimmer but if you raise the water output, you will raise the water level inside the skimmer and it will reduce the skimmer's efficiency because there will not be enough space for the air and water to mix before overflowing into the collection cup.

So just to be clear....my only option is to raise the height of the entire skimmer?
