If possible I would go with a skimmer design without the pump mounted internally like the 5000sss. I would suggest the SRO 5000 or the Diablo DC250 if your planing on a heavily stocked tank. Otherwise an SRO 3000 or Diablo DC200 would work well for a light to med stocking load.

I'll have way more the enough room in the sump so thank you Jeremy,I'll look at both those, (I already have an SRO1000, and SRO2000 in use and love em) on the DC250, what would be the advantage of the variable speed pump, I get it for the return pump, but on the skimmer what would you gain by changing the pump speed (flow and air)???

The adjustability. You can run the skimmer as a lower or moderate air and water intake as well as I high performance skimmer. There are many aquarists that don't like or can't comprehend how to use and adjust a high performance skimmer to their system. I have also found that some DC based skimmer users get better performance at lower power levels. It could be because it is turning over a more accurate amount of water to be processed or it could have to do with the density of air and what it is capable of pulling out, more air a finer mesh to filter the water.
