Reef Octopus, I am looking to replace my DIY media reactor with a new one. On the 4" MF-2000, can I hard plumb the reactor? The only pictures I see have barbed connections. What size pipe? Also, can I get the unit without the ball valve? I already have gate valves on my manifold, so the ball valve is unnecessary.

Finally, what is your recommended flowrate? My plan is to run about 4" of carbon on the bottom, place a foam pad and then run GFO on top.

Thanks,
Chris

Yes, you can hard plum the reactor if you want to.

Thank you, but that does not answer any of my other questions...

The unit is plumbed in metric (32mm). The valve comes with the unit but it is not preinstalled so you can choose to install it or not. In terms of flow rate, it depends on what media you are placing inside the reactor. There is not such thing as one flow that works with all media.

On the flowrate, I would be running primary 2 cups of GFO, so looking for a slight tumble. I will also run 2 cups of carbon beneath the GFO but plan to separate the two with a foam pad.

Usually media companies suggest flow rates so I would defer to them instead.
