keeping suction on c type overflow with aqualifter

I have a reef octopus c type overflow with aqua lifter pump connected. Lately it's been loosing suction and causes my skimmer section in my sump to drain. I have replaced aqua lifter pump and tubes, and cleaned the nipple area where tube connect at top of overflow. Any ideas why it will not keep the right suction?

You may have a small air leak somewhere that is slowly allowing air to enter the overflow and loose prime. Have you taken the whole thing apart and cleaned it?

Thanks, turns out it was my aqua lifter pump. I guess after a while they don't pump as hard. And the "new" one I got wasn't actually new. so I bought a boxed new one and it's running god now.
